LO4: Drafts of music video
FIRST DRAFT
This is the first draft to our music video- New Model Solider; Foster Kenzie. Up to now we have started to put all of our footage in order to our story board and the songs narrative. We have started jump cutting into the beat of the song to allow the viewers to be within the pace of the song. Also adding slow motion creates the haunting effect we wanted to use. We have also created cross cuts between the narrative and performances.
What we need to do
We need to add more effects such as jittering to connote ghostly and haunting feelings. We also need to make sure that we keep in time to the music as it has a very different pace such as slow then fast. More jump cuts need to be added to create the pace of the music video.
SECOND DRAFT
We have developed the music video further. We have created a lot more jump cuts, which has created a fast pace that fits into the music. We have also started using slow motion on lyrics that are dragged, to make the video and music match, to emphasis it. Layering has been used and the opacity has been turned down to create the ghost effect. A lot more footage has been uploaded to create crosscuts between the narrative and performance. We have stabilized a lot of clips to make the shakiness of the clips more normal.
What we need to do
We are wanting to try a black and white effect on the whole video, and if that doesn't work out will can use the black and white effect on either the performance or narrative. We need to add more special effects, such as thuds, ghost effects and wiggles through the clips to create this unusual, freaky feel. A lot more jump cuts need to be made instead of dragging clips out.
THIRD DRAFT
On our final draft we edited the narrative in black and white to give it that gloomy effect. We also added more effects such as fading, dipping into black, thuds to make the video freaky, which were all our initial intentions. We have added a lot more jump cuts in to match the pace of the music. More footage has been added to this draft to build up the narrative and crosscuts between performances and the narrative. A lot more ghosting effects have been made to create the reinforce the creepy lyrics.
What we need to do
A few more jump cuts could be added to long clips to break it up and match the pace of the music. The contrast needs to be edited for the black and white clips to make it more gloomy looking. More special effects and sequences need to be added to reinforce the creepiness.

LO4: Evidence of editing
Please note: 21-27 seconds into the music video, I edited however did not get the evidence. What I did was by using the razor tool, cut parts of the video to create the edit of Jump Cutting. I also changed the speed towards the end, to create a slow motion effect, which matched the pace of the music video.
This is a screen record of my editing.
Screen grabs of me editing.
Here I have been using the razor tool to create jump cuts. Using the razor tool cut parts of my clips up, which creates a fast pace.
This is a screen shot to show the effect the layering and opacity change has to create the ghost effect. It really reinforces the lyrics and makes the video spooky.

Carrying on creating jump cuts as well as cross cuts using the razor tool. I did this edit at the best parts of the music that had certain beats that could create jump cuts to.
This is a screen shot of me using the razor tool to create jump cuts and crosscuts between the narrative and performance.
Here I am layering the same clips but different times to create a ghost effect.
I changed the opacity on these to screen shots to create this ghostly/creepy effect. The opacity makes all the layers visual. I did this by clicking on the clip and clicking on effect controls and turned the opacity down.
In this screen shot I have doubled clicked on my clip and brought up the speed and duration settings. I turned the speed down, which automatically turned down the duration. The slow motion went with dragged lyrics.
This is a screenshot of me playing with the brightness and contrast for the black and white effect I added onto the narrative. I did this by clicking on the clip and clicking effect control and the tools appeared.
This is the result of the black and white and playing with the contrast.
This is a screen shot of me stabilizing a clip that was to shaky due to handheld filming, first I had to nest the clip in order for the stabilizer to work.
This is a screenshot of me using the razor tool to cut clips in time with the music to create jump cuts. This also created crosscuts between the narrative and the performance.
By using the razor tool I was able to cut clips and create jump cuts, so that the video matches the pace of the music.
Here I was adding footage and making sure that the narrative followed the lyrics. I used the razor tool to cut this clip up to add to my sequence.
This is a screen shot of me adding final footage and using the razor tool to remove parts of the clips that didn't suit and add clips that matched the narrative.
This is a screen shot of me layering clips to create the ghost effect we have throughout our music video. I used the razor tool to cut the clip and put different parts on top of each other and changed the opacity in the effect controls.
Here I have added a new clip onto my timeline; however the clip hold sound, which causes issues. To get rid of this I simply clicked the right side of my mouse and clicked unlink. I then deleted the bottom clip.
This is a screen shot of me changing the opacity from a layer down to create the ghostly effect, which added to the creepiness of the video. I did this on effect controls.
Again, I am removing the sound from the clip by unlinking the two and deleting the bottom one, so only the audio was to be heard.
This is the unlink button I used to remove the sound from the clips.
Here I am changing the speed of the clip to create a slow motion effect. I did this by changing the speed, which turned down the duration.
Here is a close up of the settings.
I was able to create sequence, which are the ones in green to create special effects such as making the clips expand and thud, which create the freakish effect that reinforce the meaning and lyrics of the song.
